Question 4: An Act to Authorize a General Fund Bond Issue to Promote the Design, Development and Maintenance of Trails for Outdoor Recreation and Active Transportation

The Cumberland County Greens recognize the numerous benefits that trails offer to our communities, including promoting physical activity, preserving our natural resources, and connecting people to the outdoors. By voting YES on Question Four, Mainers will support a $30,000,000 bond issue to fund the design, development, and maintenance of trails for nonmotorized, motorized, and multi-use recreation across the state. This investment will not only provide residents with safe and accessible recreational opportunities but also help to mitigate the effects of climate change and protect our environment for future generations. The committee endorses this measure as part of our commitment to promoting sustainable transportation and active lifestyles for all Mainers.
